The AHS Children, Youth and Families – Addiction and Mental Health Caregiver Education Team is proud to offer free mental health programming for parents and caregivers of children and youth through our partnership with the Mental Health Foundation. In response to the global pandemic, our programming continues to be offered virtually at this time. Please find the attached Newsletter here: CYF Caregiver Education Newsletter – June 2021
These 90 minute online sessions are intended to provide parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members with introductory information regarding mental health challenges that can affect children and youth. This month we are offering the sessions ‘Supporting Self-Regulation’, ‘Technology and the Teenage Brain’, and ‘More than Just a Bad Day: Understanding Depression and Self-Injury’. Sessions are for an adult audience with the exception of our session on technology where youth are welcome to attend with their caregivers.
This month’s 60 minute lunchtime webinars look at ways caregivers can support mindfulness for the whole family, establish respectful limits with teens, and improve family wellness by improving sleep routines and environments in the home.
In June, we will be continuing with our 90 minute SEEDS Growing Together parenting series where we will discuss managing meltdowns and shutdowns, helping our children with problem solving, and exploring effective consequences. We will also be starting our four-part Anxiety Series on helping our children and youth to cope through anxious feelings, thoughts, and behaviours.
