I hope you had an awesome summer.  My summer was great, highlighted by some fishing in Saskatchewan, lots of golfing, riding motorcycles, walking my dogs, and of course, grilling lots of delicious food!

Our staff is so excited to see our returning students and all of our new grade 7’s and we can’t wait to get the year started.  We have some exciting things happening this year and foremost is the creation of our House system.  A number of our staff developed an exciting new initiative that will bring all of our students closer together and make ÉLJHS even more fun! You can look forward to learning more about that  in the coming weeks.  In addition, our front entrance area is under renovation so our offices are now temporarily located at the North East entrance. Once completed, our school will have a new look at the main entrance and we expect this project to be completed by the end of the year.  As you may know, the Government of Alberta mandated that students will not be able to use their personal devices during instructional time, which we already had in place at ÉLJHS.  Black Gold School Division is currently developing a policy and if any changes are required at our school, we will keep you informed, but for now we will follow our current policy. If you are not familiar with our policy it is available on our website on the “Students” tab under “Student Handbook”.  Black Gold School Division is also making changes to the WIFI in our school buildings. Students will now have to register their devices in order to be allowed to use the network and the WIFI will only be allowed for medical or educational purposes.
